Love In Disguise

Love in Disguise by Carol Cox is an interesting story about finding love while pretending to be two different people. This story is set in December of 1881; starting off in Chicago, Illinois. Ellie Moore the main character in this novel is used to living on the sidelines wanting to be a professional actress; she has settled for life as a professional actress' assistant. When plans take a sudden change and her world is rocked; she suddenly is out of work and has no where to go.

She overhears men talking about detective work; Ellie thinks she is perfect for this because of her years studying acting; the men are not convinced until she secretly wins them over by putting her talents to work. Needless to say she gets the big detective job that leads her on an adventure of a lifetime. She gets to experience the Wild West, while solving the mystery of who's behind stealing gold. Other great heroic moments happen throughout the book. What keeps it really interesting is the people she encounters but not as Ellie,  as one of two people she disguises herself to be.

Love In Disguise is a fun mystery novel which happens to have a love story built in. Learning that looks only go so far, it's what's on the inside that truley matters.

My Stubborn Heart

I have to say that Becky Wade is one of my new favorite authors. She has taken a subject line of romance and revamp it in a way that is inspiring. I'm so used to reading romance books that start with a meeting, then falling in love, there is usually a hardship, and in the end (in the good books) they end up together. This book follows the usual routine but the hardship is what makes it different.

Kate Donovan the main charter in this book goes through everyday routines that has eventually burned her out. She has been praying for her future husband since the fourth grade and now at the age of thirty-one has yet to find him. She was offered a chance to go with her grandmother to her childhood home in Redbud, Pennsylvania where little did she know her life would be changed forever.

When she first meets Matt Jarreau an attractive local who has been hired to help with renovations to the house, she can't help but to have a little crush on this gorgeous man. He on the other hand is not interested in anything but his work. After Kate's persistence she gets to know Matt a little better and learn what's made him the way he is.

This love story takes a different approach, Kate who trusts the Lord with all of heart decides to listen to Him and believe His promises even when she wants the opposite. Listening to the Lord definitely has a happier and better outcome then if she hadn't. It's a lesson to all of us single, in a relationship, or married when you put God in the center of your world and make him number one not only are you in obedience and in accordance to his will for you, but you receive blessings because of it.

My Stubborn Heart is a fun, easy, and lesson learning read. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a new perspective on the usual love story.
